. Techniques Used in Cosmetic Surgery
Cosmetic surgery is mainly all about remodeling of any portion of the human body. However this venture is never done any how. There are specified processes involved in the surgery.
In cosmetic surgery, one major techniques used by the plastic surgeons is known as “grafting”. This is the transplanting or implanting of living tissues from one part of the body to another. The transplantation can also be from one person to another with the view that the tissue transplanted will adhere and grow thereby replacing the missing part.
The grafting could be done in various ways. One of the common methods used world wide is “Skin grafting”. This style is indeed very common in the US, Europe and elsewhere in the world. In this method one part of the skin is usually transplanted to another side that needs refilling or replacement.
Again, another grafting technique also used in cosmetic surgery is the one known as “full-thickness grafting”. In this method, the full thickness of the skin is completely removed and transferred to the defective area. This method is also frequently used by most plastic surgeons today for minor facial defects.
The third grafting technique also used in cosmetic surgery is known as “split-thickness grafting”. This is usually used for severe burns especially in the lives of victims who have fire accidents. In this method, an electric device known as dermatome is used.
Finally, there are other techniques used in cosmetic surgery but they are not frequently applied. They are usually used in more complicated cases. In any case, all the techniques have one thing or the other to do with grafting process.
